Coats for the Cold
Help someone stay warm this winter by donating any gently used coats or jackets that you are no longer using. Coats for all sizes and ages are needed. Coats may be placed on the garment rack in the fellowship hall. Thanks, Mike, for your generous donation of coats and jackets!

12/4 Toys for Teens
St. Luke once again is partnering with Buckhead Christian Ministry to donate items for teens through the annual Joyous Toys program. For teen girls, a sample gift list includes manicure sets, gift cards, movie passes, sweaters and earrings. Suggested gifts for teen boys include oversized sweatshirts/hoodies, Atlanta team clothing and DVDs. Please bring your unwrapped gift to the fellowship hall for collection no later than Sunday, Dec. 4. Check out the church bulletin board for more gift suggestions. Questions? 12/18 Cookie Walk

St Luke's Annual Cookie Walk will be held in the fellowship hall following the worship service. Here's your chance to leverage your baking skills for Christmas Treats! Just bake dozen or two of your favorites and then "walk" around the table collecting samples from our expert bakers for purchase. Of course, non-bakers are encouraged to purchase treats as well. Don't miss it! Mark your calendars. Proceeds will benefit Buckhead Christian Ministries.

1/29 Next Food Pantry Goal
Thank-you to all who donated to our last goal! We collected 52 bags (including cash donations) last quarter so we didn't quite reach it but we're still on track overall for the year. Please help us reach our next quarterly goal for Buckhead Christian Ministry (BCM)'s Food Pantry! We need 75 bags of non-perishable donations or cash equivalent by January 29th. Drop your bags in the fellowship hall or your check (with a notation for “BCM food drive”) in the collection plate. Questions? Contact Jane vonSeggern (jvonse@gmail.com).

Give a Gift that Changes Lives
Looking for a special gift? Consider honoring someone special with a Heifer International Gift card. Heifer International helps families around the world receive training and animal gifts to become self-reliant. Or consider donating through the ELCA Good Gifts program - gifts that equip, nourish, nurture, heal, inspire, respond or partner. Look for catalogs on the bulletin board outside the fellowship hall.

Sharing St Luke with the Community
We share our facility, particularly our fellowship hall, with several community groups including three AA groups, the Swedish Lodge, the Vasa Drangar Choir, and the Armenian Church of Greater Atlanta. The Armenian Church will worship at St Luke monthly on a Sunday afternoon. See our calendar for details.

Horn of Africa Relief
Thanks to all who contributed to the ELCA's Africa Drought relief fund. Contributions collected August 28 & September 4 will be used to provide food and safe water to those who have made their way to camps in Kenya and Ethiopia. Missed the opportunity to give? Habitat House Dedicated
St Luke participated with Lutheran Coalition for Habitat in building a house in Woodstock for the LaRocque family: Mom, twin girls 16, sister 9 and brother 7. The build ran from Feb 5 - May 21. Karen DeRuyter served as St Luke's coordinator and accepted St Luke's plaque for us at the dedication. Photos by Russ Hayes.

Mainali Family Update
Ted & Delores found the Mainali family well and in good spirits when they visited on Palm Sunday. Moni has his GA learners permit and will soon take the driver's test so he can drive the Pontiac donated by the Blackneys at the end of January. Medani's sister, Sunita in Nepal is awaiting her status to join the family in Atlanta along with her son, Krrish and their mother, Hari Maya. The family is on a waiting list for a 3-bedroom unit in their apartment complex.

Brewster's Ice Cream Coupon Books.
The Social Concerns Committee continues to offer Bruster's Ice Cream coupon booklets for $10 each. Among other goodies, each one features multiple buy-one-get-one-free coupons good even for waffle cones! They are a a great deal and never expire. All proceeds benefit Social Concerns projects. Buckhead Christian Ministry

Buckhead Christian Ministry (BCM) is a faith-based, non-profit organization that fights hunger and homelessness in North Atlanta by providing food to the hungry, paying rent and utility bills of those facing eviction. BCM's housing program assists families moving from homelessness to more permanent housing. BCM was founded in 1987 as an Emergency Assistance Program in a small office on Peachtree Road. Since then, BCM has grown to be a city wide agency supported by 28 churches, corporations and businesses, private and public foundations, civic groups, and thousands of individuals. Lutheran Services of Georgia is a social service agency which combines the resources of staff, financial donors, various governmental agencies, volunteers, and Lutheran congregations in its efforts to bring quality programs and services to the people of Georgia.

Lutheran Volunteer Corps

Lutheran Volunteer Corps (LVC) unites full-time stipended Volunteers with financial supporters, non-profit organizations and ministries to work for peace with justice across the nation. In addition to working for justice, LVC Volunteers live together in intentional household communities of 4-7 people to encourage simple, sustainable living.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. HFHI seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of consciense and action.

Heifer International

Heifer’s mission is to work with communities to end hunger and poverty and care for the earth. With gifts of livestock and training, we help families improve their nutrition and generate income in sustainable ways. We refer to the animals as “living loans” because in exchange for their livestock and training, families agree to give one of its animal’s offspring to another family in need.

Lutherans Concerned / North America

LC/NA works for the full inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Lutherans in all aspects of the life of their Church and congregations. We provide a place of comfort and safety.
